Master

Skyrim Master

How To Unlock: Reach Level 50.

Tips[]

How you level up in Skyrim is simple, yet complicated. Unlike most RPGs you don’t get experience for quests or kills, so levelling up the conventional way is out of the question, in fact, it’s all about levelling up sub-skills, which in turn levels up your character level. Every time you level up you get chance to whack 10 points on magika, stamina or health, as well as applying a perk.

There are 18 skills in the game which range from combat orientated skills like archery, one-handed weapons and blocking; and magic use like restoration, destruction and conjuration; all the way through to more deceptive tasks like sneaking, pickpocketing and lock-picking; and your general working jobs, like smithing, alchemy and enchanting.

In order to hit 50 you’ll have to do a wide range of tasks and level them up as far as possible. The truth is that you’ll never be able to stick with one discipline if you want to get to level 50 – I reached level 100 on my archery skill by about level 35. That means you’ll have to mix things up… use magic, use archery, use one-handed weapons, use two-handed weapons, smith weapons, enchant weapons, pick-pocket people, pick locks… the more you do, the quicker you’ll level up – so when you reach that level 100 on a skill, it’s time to move onto something else. It is worth nothing that a level 10 in a skill isn’t going to raise you character level as much as a level 90 would.

There are 3 ways though to level up skills and for tips on how to raise the individual skill levels, see the “Skill Master” achievement description where there are tons of tips that will help raise skill subsets across the board, getting you closer to that level 50 achievement quicker than usual.
